Black Eyed Children

Welcome, hunters of the unseen and investigators of the paranormal, to another edition of Fringe Hunter. My name is Ryder Parker and I will be your guide into the darkness of the supernatural world that lives behind closed eyes.

Recently there has been increased sightings of the infamous phenomena known as Black Eyed Children encounters. A relatively lesser known paranormal experience that has been gaining ground since the urban legends began circulating on the internet in the mid to late 90s.

What is the legend of the Black Eyed Children? According to the stories of those who encounter these strange entities they are beings that resemble young adolescents that appear to be the ages of 5 to 16. With cold black eyes that show no indication of an iris or sometimes even the sclera, not too hard to deduce given their name.

But their pale white skin, chilling coal-like eyes, and macabre innocent appearance is not where the stories end. These beings are known for stalking their victims, and not the kind of stalking that is at all predictable with material creatures that are bound to the universe’s physical laws. Their known for appearing randomly behind and in front of people who try to walk away from the situation.

Most stories include close encounters where these black eyed entities talk to their potential victims; usually this occurs when the witnesses are in their homes or cars and the beings want inside. In true vampirish folklore fashion, and even certain demonic encounters, these beings need to be invited inside a residence in order to enter.

For the most part, no potential victims have reported letting these black eyed children inside. Witnesses claim that they are usually stopped by feelings of dread, sorrow, and even terror that emits from just being in their presence. But a lot of witnesses claim that they also feel drawn to the children, or become disposed to follow them when they see them run or walk away.

As of August 2014, there has been new sightings and eyewitness testimonies that claim they have had encounters. These all seem to be centered in a village named Cannock Chase in Staffordshire, England. And according to the locals these sightings have been happening since the 1980s; sometime before the internet began spreading the rumors.

I’ll now share with you hunters some eye-witness testimonies provided by Huffington Post.

The case from last year a woman in Cannock Chase who witnessed the phenomena reports, “My daughter and I were walking through Birches Valley when we heard the screams of a young child. I couldn’t tell if it was a boy or a girl, but they definitely seemed in distress and sounded very close to us, so we instantly started running towards the noise. We couldn’t find the child anywhere and so stopped to catch our breath. That’s when I turned round and saw a girl standing behind me, no more than 10 years old, with her hands over her eyes. It was as if she was waiting for a birthday cake. I asked if she was OK and if she had been the one screaming. She put her arms down by her side and opened her eyes. That’s when I saw they were completely black, no iris, no white, nothing. I jumped back and grabbed my daughter. When I looked again, the child was gone.”

And in a more recent sighting on September 13, 2014, a man tells his story, “My wife and I were walking through Cannock Chase near to Stile Cop with our dog. Once we had entered the woodland, and the road was no longer visible, we started to hear the giggling noise of a little girl. To our amazement, a child, no taller than one meter [3 feet] in height appeared as if out of nowhere further up the path in front of us. We stopped dead in our tracks after noticing her eyes had no color… She stared at us for around five minutes before running away into a densely grouped area of trees.”

The stories go on much like these in most cases, and the internet is filled with “encounters” with these black eyed children. Go ahead and google black eyed children, I bet you’ll get millions of hits.

Paranormal investigator Lee Brickley believes these cases if true, are the result of demons.

So are these black eyed children, if real, demons or are they something else entirely? People playing pranks, a hoax, demonic activity, aliens, or real world vampires?
I believe that’s entirely up to the hunter that does more research on this matter to dictate what they believe these entities are.

Science Journalist Sharon Hill, of Doubtful News, also throws in her two cents about the entire situation. Here is what she has to say, “There are several possible alternative explanations to these stories other than "paranormal." The core problem is that the stories are not confirmed - there is little reason to accept them as fact. We can not tell if the tales have any merit and there is little in terms of “facts” to pursue. Anecdotes are the worst type of evidence to rely upon due to faulty perception, mistakes, or people just making stuff up for fun.

Such tales can become associated with a place, in this case, Cannock Chase. Locals or visitors to the area are primed with the lore they have heard from others. This can result in exaggerated or embellished reports of events as some who want to have the experience get creative with their observations…

We must always leave open the consideration that hoaxes are taking place. We know such hoaxes occur and we can't dismiss a calculated hoax, no matter how complicated it may seem… But in the end, the black eyed kids resembles typical spooky folklore stories in the same realm as phantom black dogs, apparitions, and mysterious monsters. They aren't supernatural, there may never even have been an actual encounter. That does not stop people from continuing to see and fear them and pass on the latest tale of terror.”

You can read more on what Sharon Hill has to say about the entire story by going through the link provided below.

If black eyed children do exist and are the product of demonic activity than we might have to figure out ways to protect ourselves. So get your salt, holy water, bibles, and crosses hunters because we might have to look out for hellish entities.

California Clowns

Greetings, hunters of the strange and seekers of the creepy.

My name is Ryder Parker, and I am Fringe Hunter your friend and guide into the mysterious world hidden in the dark. This week I thought I’d spread the news on the recent sightings of creepy clowns  in Bakersfield, California. Yes, you heard me right, hunters, a city in California has become host to a rather ominous figure that has dubbed himself the “Wasco Clown.”

But our creepy friend may not be alone in his terrifying antics as there had been as many as 20 reported sighting in one week, according to ABC News. And even claims that some of the reported Clowns were wielding weapons, but I suspect that the prankster(s) behind this phenomenon are relatively harmless.

The police in the areas haven't even made a real arrest, and that’s because none of the sighted clowns has engaged in criminal behavior (ABC News). And it’s not against the law to be a creepy little bastard; if it were against the law I think America’s prisons would be even more overpopulated than they are now. Here’s looking at you, world!

The only exception to what I stated above is the case of a young man, 14 years old, who was taken into custody for chasing a group of other young men and women in a clown costume. The boy’s punishment: taking a family member to his future prom.

As of yet the authorities have no leads on the vile balloon wielding pennywise of Wasco. And it seems that the prankster(s) may not be ready to hang up their rainbow wigs just yet. So the poor scared residents of California just may lose sleep knowing that their streets are not clowning free.

Until next time, hunters, always remember that when things go bump in the night respond with a bang!

Fringe Hunter Blog Begins!

Welcome, seekers of the strange and investigators of the mysterious, to my blog that I have donned as Fringe Hunter. Here I will try to update my readers on things that range from the paranormal to the strange and everything I can think of in-between. So let me tell you a little about the author and my ideas for this blog.

I am an aspiring writer currently working on too many projects that are even logical to attempt, with genres that include: horror, urban-fantasy, science fiction, and darker brands of thrillers. The stories range from episodic narratives to simple one-shot stories; each approached with the same level of mindful research and heart-felt care as the last. Or in the very least each is given a stage in my mind to pitch it’s shtick and I decide if it lives or falls into the dark recesses of my mind.

For this blog, I will attempt to bring to my readers real life news that falls into my category above.  As well I may take some liberties to discuss my favorite comics, books, and film (television and movies). The second endeavor of this blog will be to promote one of my story universes, and I will do that through the use of a fictional character known as Fringe Hunter. Fringe Hunter will play with the real-life events and strange news, but will apply them in a way that allows it all to fit in his/her universe.

While Ryder Parker is Fringe Hunter in this world, the character that will solely address themselves as Fringe Hunter will be an entity of itself. To distinguish between us two I will announce myself by name while the fictional character will not. My hope is that many people will come to enjoy and even become fans of this blog and that you become interested in the world that Fringe Hunter resides.

I leave you with a little advice my fellow hunters, when things go bump in the night respond with a bang!
